Dr. Silja Braun, who was born and raised in Germany, earned her Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University. Prior to her Doctorate, she studied at West Chester University, where she received both her Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and her Bachelor of Science Degree in French and German. Dr. Braun has taught at VFMS for over fifteen years. She briefly also worked in West Chester and Havertown during her first year of teaching. Dr. Braun’s husband, Bob, is a self-employed building contractor. Her two sons, Christoffer, who is in eighth grade, and Tristan, who is in fourth grade, attend school in the Downingtown Area School District and are bilingual.
In an interview with the PTO, Dr. Braun shared the following information:
Pets – Her cat, Sandy, was rescued from a construction site by her husband. When he brought her home, she was skinny, had paint on her coat and begged for french fries!
Hobbies now – Traveling, skiing, eating out and spending time with family, both here and in Germany.
Hobbies, sports and interests when you were in middle school – Ballet and piano.
Interesting/little known facts or talents – She can wiggle her ears!
Advice for parents of middle school children – Hug your kids at night, be supportive and don’t sweat the small stuff!
